Kamila CK
Kamila CK is an interdisciplinary visual artist based in the UK. Her practice merges boundaries between performance (aerial movement and physical theatre), abstract painting and Japanese Zen calligraphy in a contemporary art context.
Born in Poland, 1985, Kamila has lived and worked in the UK since 2007. She holds a Master's Degree in International Hospitality Management, from Oxford, UK and worked as a marketing head for London hotels before becoming an artist at 33. Since then, she has studied painting at Slade School of Fine Arts in London and completed a Professional Course in Circus Arts with AirCraft Circus Academy, London. She had the great fortune of studying Japanese Zen caligraphy under Japanese artist and teacher, Rie Takeda, which opened her to the practice of Zen circle painting. This way of painting became a cornerstone in her practice, which she combined with five years of movement performance practices including contemporary dance and aerial (trapeze, aerial hoop and aerial silks).
Her interdisciplinary works touch upon themes of spirituality, duality, the cosmic and visual metaphors igniting a deeper sense of existence. Since 2019, her works have been showcased in London (Bloomsbury Theatre, Affordable Art Fair, Laura I Gallery) as well as abroad including Italy (Florence Contemporary Gallery 2021) and France (residency in Provence 2021 and Clamecy 2022). Her works are held in private collections in the UK, US, Canada, France, and Poland. In 2023 she opened her concept of a boutique stay with art at No. 2 Boutique Art Townhouse, Lincoln, UK.
Kamila CK lives in Lincoln and continues to work in London and internationally.
